SG Double D Ranch Zoey (L) and her daughter Kickapoo Creek WOF Jazmine (R)
The Nigerian Dairy goat is a miniature dairy goat of West African origin. Nigerian goats are popular due to their small size, colorful markings and dairy characteristics. Their small stature means they do not require as much space or feed as their larger dairy goat counterparts and their gentle and friendly personalities make them good companion pets. The milk is also higher in butterfat and has a sweeter taste. Nigerian goats are easy to handle; even for small children, which makes them ideal for youth 4H and FFA projects.
2020 News:
2020 is our first year on DHIA milk test. It has been a lot of work, on top of a full time job, but very rewarding also.
We had eight does earn their milk stars:
Three does awarded their Superior genetics Designation:
Two Kickapoo Creek does make the December 2020 Elite doe list:
2019 - Our daughter's years with 4H and FFA have come to an end. It's been a great experience these last 9 years, but she is moving forward with her next adventure.
We will continue with these wonderful little critters, but on a smaller scale. We are reducing the herd and have several nice goats available. I'm working on getting them added here; you can also see some posted on our Facebook page. (See FB link at the bottom of the page.)
Kickapoo Creek Ranch started as our daughter's 4-H goat project, but has grown into a family project. She started with 3 doelings in 2010. We all enjoyed the goats so much that during 2011 we added some junior & senior does, along with some nice bucks. 2012 was very exciting with the first batch of kids. She learned how to take care of the umbilical cords, and to milk her own does.
She shows her goats in 4-H and we all enjoy showing at the open shows. She enjoys making goat milk soap. We have also made goat cheese & ice cream.
All of her goats are registered with ADGA, and many are registered with AGS & NDGA also.
The herd is tested for CAE annually, in addition to random testing for CL & Johnes. Tests have always been negative. The most recent test was March 2022.
In 2014 we participated in our first Linear Appraisal (what a great learning experience), then again in 2016, 2017 & 2018.
Zoey and MiniPrints TM Cricket were the very first does purchased, and the beginning of our goat adventure. Both these does have brought so much to the herd and will always have a home here.
